Thanks for all of your sweet comments last week. Sometimes the ebb and flow of the day to day tends to catch up with me – as I’m sure we can all relate.
This weekend was filled with an abundance of elbow grease, manual labor and mess as we used this weekend as our one major weekend to pack up before we move so we could take full advantage of the next as a holiday to spend as much time as possible with friends and family.
We snuck out early one morning to grab some sustenance before our long day and found this spot that felt very appropriate. Light in the front, black in the back – much like the sweater I had on. Which I must say has become a new favorite, it’s so sleek and looks much more luxe than it’s pocket-friendly price point.
Paired with a faux fur scarf (you know I love a good snood-like winter weather accessory) and a pop of cobalt, I was cozy and comfy without having to resort to going outside in my pj’s.
What are some of those pieces in your closet that you always find yourself reaching for?
Oh, and because we can’t ever take this sport too seriously, here’s an outtake for ya. My signature “CHEEEEESE” pose.
When it comes to fashion week it seems every street style photo features awesome, yet tiny clutches. I’ve always been a girl that seems to schlep the entire kitchen sink with her (need super glue? I’ve got it.) So my solution typically looks something like the above – a great cross-body bag in a bright punchy color.
I love the tomato red of this Banana Republic number, plus it’s actually roomy so if I wanted to bring my 5 lb. wallet with me, I could! And when I’m not feeling a ton of color in my actual clothing then I like to accessorize with a little sparkle and one main attraction, in this case the bag.. and maybe the bright lip!
With a busy day of baking, cooking, football, food, family and thanks I figured why not feature tomorrow’s outfit today — you know, before it gets covered in flour because I’m too stubborn to buy an apron. It was my genius idea to wear all cream, but I’m hoping to come out unscathed with a little advance preparation.
I was given this Banana Republic skirt as a birthday gift from my lovely friend Sonia after gushing over the mix of cream and sequins. And while I initially envisioned the piece with a chunkier oversized sweater and lug sole boots, I opted for a more delicate version for the holiday.
Tell me, do you use the holidays as an excuse to get dressed up? Or is it elastic waistbands and comfort instead?
