Inspiring Intel: Denim

Can you believe we are entering our last unofficial week of summer? I realize temperatures won’t be dropping anytime soon, but all of the summer perks (half day Fridays, late sunsets, weekends at the beach) are slowly loosening from my grasp – and while it definitely makes me sad, I’m very much looking forward to NYC in the fall. My favorite time of year.

The end of August means a few things. Our wedding anniversary (Wednesday!), Labor Day weekend (any fun plans?) and back-to-school (well maybe not for me). That being said, my brain still shifts into back-to-school mode, thinking of fun new outfits and craving new school, er, office supplies.

One wardrobe item I’m looking forward to reinventing (well, for my style anyway) is denim. I hardly ever wear blue jeans and rarely wear denim period. But as I slowly start to par down my wardrobe full of trendy, one-time wear items, I am beginning to add pieces that I know will fit my style year to year, regardless of trends, but simply because they feel right for me.

So today’s Inspiring Intel post takes inspiration from our favorite street style connoisseurs. Let’s boot up the ultra-quick Intel-Inspired Ultrabook™ to speedily hop on the web and let the inspiration flow!

I love her take on funky take on mixing up basics – an oxford button down, rolled boyfriend jeans, a classic khaki trench and a pop of color with yellow ankle-strap pumps. Somehow, so chic!

You’ll find a trend throughout this post – I am heavily gravitating towards the boyfriend jean, as it has been one trend I don’t feel I’ve ever been suited to pull off. This look is casual yet looks pulled together and stylish. Boyfriend jean + heel = yes.

One of my all-time favorites. I’ve probably had this bookmarked since before Pinterest existed. (If you can imagine a time!) The proportions are perfect and the addition of an oversized chunky earring pulls it all together. I love.

Jenna wears denim better than anyone I know. And this look is no exception. You know it must be cold outside, but she still manages to look completely on point regardless of the weather.

Skinny denim, short sneakers, a peter pan color and a crisp blazer. I’m not sure I would be comfortable even attempting to pull this look off, but she does it so well I may have to give it a go.

A Canadian tuxedo at Fashion Week? This is how it’s done.

Again, slouchy boyfriend denim. Girly, strappy heels and an oversized trench. Coming to a fall wardrobe near you (well, me.)

What denim styles are you looking to revamp or add to your wardrobe for fall?

I am looking forward to move away from some of the trendier items I have been purchasing on a whim and move back to classic pieces that look stylish. I have noticed what I have been pinning and it is totally different than what I have been wearing and I need to seriously work on that!
